CGMI Above Only 18 September 2017, Devotional by Rev. M.E. Benson-Idahosa - Triumphing Over Challenges

Topic: Triumphing Over Challenges — Monday September 18, 2017.

Text:  2 Corinthians 12:8-9 (NIV), James 4:6-7 (NIV)
Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me. But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. *But he gives us more grace. That is why Scripture says: “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.” Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

Child of God, no matter what you may be going through, I want you to know that the grace of God is sufficient for you and that it will see you through. You will come out victoriously on the other side and you will praise God for His grace that saw you through. By the grace of God, both the strength and wisdom that you need will be abundantly provided to you. You will know what to do and will have the strength to do it. Keep looking unto Jesus.

The Holy Spirit is your Comforter and your Helper. With Him, you will feel as if Jesus is physically present with you because He actually is. By His grace, God has already made a portion of His wisdom concerning how you can triumph over your challenges available to you in His word. The Holy Spirit will guide you into that wisdom.

Even as a righteous man or woman, you will face many afflictions, but God will deliver you from them all, Psa.34:19. Remain humble and remain full of faith. Keep your eyes on God’s love and keep your eyes on the joy that is set before you. That situation has already worked out together for your good. It has worked out an eternal weight of glory for you, 2Cor.4:17. Maintain a good conscience. Resist the temptation to slip back into guilt. Remain conscious of your righteousness in Christ. Pray in faith. James 5:13a says, is any among you afflicted? Let him pray. James 5:16b reminds us that the effective fervent prayer of the righteous man avails much.

Prayer Focus: I thank You, Heavenly Father, for Your abundant wisdom and grace that is available for me to triumph over my challenges today.
