Winning Wisdom: Partakers Of Affliction 2

Topic: Partakers of Affliction 2 [Friday, 14th July 2017]

Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner: but be thou partaker of the afflictions of the gospel according to the power of God; 2 Timothy 1:8

Knowing that we have to take the afflictions gracefully is, honestly, not encouraging. Some may wonder whether there is no way to pray away the afflictions or just avoid it altogether. There’s good news though: it is through the power of God. We don’t have to do it by our own strengths. God has always known that our strength has limits, and so over and again, in scripture, we’re told that our strength is insufficient to see us through life.

In 1 Samuel 2:9, scriptures say: “He will keep the feet of his saints, and the wicked shall be silent in darkness; for by strength shall no man prevail.”

Psalms 127:1 says: “except the Lord build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the Lord keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain.”

Scriptures also say in Ecclesiastes 9:11, “I returned, and saw under the sun, that the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither yet bread to the wise, nor yet riches to men of understanding, nor yet favour to men of skill; but time and chance happeneth to them all.”

It further said in 2 Corinthians 12:9: “and he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.”.

He knew afflictions will come from walking with Him, and He also knew that we couldn’t withstand them by ourselves, so He made all things available for us in Christ. So, it’s true, when you accept Christ, life becomes stress-free to the end as we focus on what the word of God says, rather than the affliction. "For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory; While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal" (2Corinthians 4:17-18). Through the word, the power of God is made available to you to overcome the afflictions.

Keep winning daily.

Prayer:

Dear Father, thank You for blessing me with You, and not only that, counting me worthy to suffer for You that  I may partake of Your glory, and then going another mile to provide your power for this walk. Thank You, in Jesus' Name. Amen.
