Topic: The Minister’s Ministry 3 [Wednesday, 5th July 2017]

And I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who hath enabled me, for that he counted me faithful, putting me into the ministry. 1 Timothy 1:12

By all means, the minister of God must be accorded respect, and held in esteem. They are to be obeyed, as the instructions they give are from God. The writer of the book of Hebrews says in Hebrews 13:17, “obey your spiritual leaders, and do what they say. Their work is to watch over your souls, and they are accountable to God. Give them reason to do this with joy and not with sorrow. That would certainly not be for your benefit.” If we disobey them, it would be detrimental to us, as the blessings we would experience in obeying them will elude us.

The minister, in fulfilling his ministry, should be prayed for by those he ministers to. This is not only for the good of the minister, but for the good of those he ministers to. Because when they are prayed for, the blessings and revelations the Lord gives to them will be enjoyed by those they minister to, during their ministration (Hebrews 13:18-19). Praying for the minister, is the ministered fulfilling his own ministry to the minister. Also, the minister, especially if without any other means of livelihood, should be catered for by those He ministers to (Philippians 4:10-19). The ministered will be blessed for doing this, and it’s also a ministry to the minister.

Very importantly, the minister is leading the ministered on a journey to progress and to a more fulfilling life in Christ. This is why they must be followed by those they minister to. The ministry will be a complete disaster if the ministered are not following the minister. Followership is the essence of ministry. Apostle Paul said in 1 Corinthians 11:1, “be followers of me, even as I also am of Christ.” Christ, when He was ministering to people also encourage them to follow Him (Matthew 4:19, 16:24). Follow their examples and way of life, follow their faith and devotion to God and His service. Followership is the hallmark of the minister’s ministry.

Keep winning daily.

Prayer:

Dear Lord, by the working of Your Spirit in me, I respect, obey, pray, provide for and follow my minister, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
