Winning Wisdom: Call To Glory

I therefore, the prisoner for the Lord, appeal to and beg you to walk (lead a life) worthy of the [divine] calling to which you have been called [with behavior that is a credit to the summons to God’s service, (Ephesians 4:1 AMP)

Every vocation has ethics which practitioners must adhere to. Sometimes, you just have to watch or listen to a person for a short while to know his profession without being told. There’s a life worthy of the calling you’ve received. And just before you exempt yourself by saying you’ve not been called, being God’s son is a call. We must remember that Paul wasn’t writing this letter to some set of pastors or prophets, he wrote it to the church: the entire body of Christ which includes the man who gets saved today. We’ve been called to glory and virtue (2 Peter1:3).

Peter urges us to be done with every trace of wickedness (depravity, malignity) and all deceit and insincerity (pretense, hypocrisy) and grudges (envy, jealousy) and slander and evil speaking of every kind. (1Peter 2:1,AMP). And Paul says we should live as becomes us] with complete lowliness of mind (humility) and meekness (unselfishness, gentleness, mildness), with patience, bearing with one another and making allowances because you love one another. (Ephesians 4:2 AMP)

As living epistles read by men, what report do people have about us both in our presence and absence? Do their testimonies agree with who we claim we are? Our lives should be consistent from the home to the larger society. There should be a clear cut distinction between believers and unbelievers, just as it is with light and darkness. Remember we’ve been called out of darkness into God’s marvelous light. Let’s walk as children of light.

Thank You God for calling me out of darkness into Your glorious light. I denounce every work of darkness and receive grace to walk worthy of my call at all times, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
