A Promise For You From Bible Promises:

Topic: Consequences of Greed [13/02/2017]

So are the ways of every one that is greedy of gain; which taketh away the life of the owners thereof. Proverbs 1:19. 2 Kings 5:20-27

Greed is a selfish and excessive desire to have more of something (especially money) than is needed. Merriam Webster Dictionary. When you begin to hoard money like goods for the unborn generation, it means you are greedy. Whenever you desire more than what you need per time, it result to you being greedy. Jesus said we should pray that God should give to us our daily bread. It was greed that made the supply of manna for the Israelite in the wilderness to bred worms, and stank. God told them, take the one you and your family can eat a day, don’t keep to the next day. When greediness was involved, the leftover began to bred worms. Ex 16:15-20

One of the consequences the above scripture mention is that, greediness takes away the life of the greedy. If this is the only consequence for the greedy, it could have been better. But the Bible says in Pro 15:27 that, the greedy troubles his own house. A very good example is Gehazi (the servant of Elisha) who only not got leprosy as a reward for greediness but also troubled his unborn generation with same. Greediness is an evil spirit that comes upon men to pursue dishonest gain.
