In life, what you are afraid of will determine where you will eventually end up. When you fear men, you end up ensnaring yourself. When you fear the devil, you become his puppet at the end of the day. The Word never admonished us to fear man but to respect them. God never ask us to fear the devil but to surrender to Him (God) and rebuke the devil. James 4:8. What you must know is that, when you fear man (instead of to respect him) you will begin to do eyeservice to honour him because whosoever you fear you honour. When you fear the devil, he will end up using you for his evil work because instead of rebuking him, he will come and make his abode in your heart. This shall not be your portion in Jesus name.
