Topic: They Don't Have Base [13/01/2017]
Let not thine heart envy sinners: but be thou in the fear of the LORD all the day long. Proverbs 23:17. Read: Ps 73:2-22.
Oftentimes we're tempted to question God Almighty over the prosperity of sinners. When we see men that hate God with passion prosper in virtually all their ways, thousand thoughts arise in our hearts, why should they prosper Lord? Sometimes, many so-called Christians envy them by their words - look at how prosperous he/she is despite the fact they don't know God; God bless me as you've blessed him oh! Envy or comparing yourself to sinners is not only evil and sin, it's also a sign of a confusion and one that has lost his focus on God.
You must understand that the wealth of sinners are stored up for the righteous and sinners that prosper in their sins are baseless. The writer of Psalm 73 was almost carried away by envying the prosperity of sinners in his generation. He took time to analyse their prosperity and how they are secured with their pride. He said they even set their mouth against heavens, they increase in their wealth daily. The writer was blaming himself for being righteous.
He now understood better when he went to the sanctuary of God, he discovered their end. He found out that they are set on slippery places and their end is destruction and terror. The ungodly have no base, so stop envying them.
* This season, your Labour of love and your righteous living shall be rewarded in Jesus name.
