Matthew 28:9 "And as they went to tell his disciples, behold, Jesus met them, saying, All hail. And they came and held him by the feet, and worshipped him."

Self-denial is embraced by much of Christianity today. Historically, self-denial has always been a big part of false religion. Most religions of the world teach an abasement of self, but they do it as penitence in order to obtain salvation. This is not the denying of self that the Bible advocates.

If we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us. —1 John 5:14

God has said, “If my people . . . pray . . . then will I hear from heaven.” Before three thousand people were brought into the Church on the day of Pentecost, the disciples had spent ten days in prayer, fasting, and spiritual travail. God desires that Christians be concerned and burdened for a lost world. If we pray this kind of prayer, an era of peace may come to the world and the hordes of wickedness may be turned back.

That's what a couple of my Partners did. They faced a situation that would have made many people panic. But when the crisis hit, their hearts were so deeply established on the Word of God that their first response was not one of fear but of faith.

Thought For The Day: Where you stand determines how you end in life.

From our anchor scripture above, Elijah stood before King Ahab and fearlessly declared that there would be no rain until he had declared otherwise. What an audacity! It is like a civilian walking up to a military General and dictator, someone like Idi Amin Dada of Uganda or Adolf Hitler of Germany and telling him that he would not have access to the treasury of the country which he governs until he or she asks him to do so. That person, no doubt, would be on a suicide mission.

Text: Ephesians 4:20-32

Key Verse: "That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness" (Ephesians 4:22,24).

The story was told of a man who did not know Christ. He was a petty thief, picking his neighbours’ dresses once they were washed and spread on the cloth line to dry. He had stolen a neighbour’s expensive shirt and denied he ever saw it. Soon after, the house was sold and every tenant was asked to leave. Later, he heard the gospel and gave his life to Christ. He went out one day to evangelise with a partner and met his former neighbour.

They were available in a number of sizes to fit cats and dogs of all varieties. During 1991 Gulf war, the late Saddam Hussein had pledged to eradicate “Jewish dogs” from this planet. So if fear and ‘fever’ of a possible war between the United States and Iraq has provoked protective provision for animals that have no eternal bargain. Don’t you think that God has greater plans for your security in the remaining days of this year? Oh, I love dogs! Recently, a dog that had lived with us for over 8 years died and guess what? John 19:31 "The Jews therefore, because it was the preparation, that the bodies should not remain upon the cross on the sabbath day, (for that sabbath day was an high day,) besought Pilate that their legs might be broken, and that they might be taken away."

The Sabbath was first mentioned in scripture in Exodus 16, when the Lord miraculously provided manna to the children of Israel in the wilderness. The Israelites were commanded to gather twice as much manna on the sixth day because God would not provide any on the seventh day (Ex. 16:5, 22-30).

With everlasting kindness will I have mercy on thee, saith the Lord thy redeemer. — Isaiah 54:8

If God is all-powerful and all-loving, it would seem inconsistent with His nature to allow anyone to be lost. Here again we rationalize because we do not understand the nature of God. God cannot go against His own laws and against His own nature. God is holy. He cannot tolerate sin in His presence. He created us free to choose how we would live. He invites us to come His way, but leaves us free to pursue our own ends with tragic, natural consequences. We glibly say, “Surely a loving God would not allow a person He loves to be lost. He just wouldn’t allow it.” Far from allowing it, God has done everything He can to prevent it! Talk about love! “God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son . . . ” This is good news. Because of what God in love has done for us, we need not be lost.

As one of the most celebrated orchestral conductors of the twentieth century, Arturo Toscanini is remembered for his desire to give credit to whom credit is due. In David Ewen’s Dictators of the Baton, the author describes how members of the New York Philharmonic Orchestra rose to their feet and cheered Toscanini at the end of a rehearsal of Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony. When there was a lull in the ovation, and with tears in his eyes, Arturo’s broken voice could be heard exclaiming as he spoke: “It isn’t me . . . it’s Beethoven! . . . Toscanini is nothing.”

One of the growing psychological problems facing people today is loneliness. One of the greatest ministries that a person can have today is just being a good listener. Many people are longing not only to be loved but to have someone who will listen to them. When we love God with all our hearts, then we have the capacity to love our neighbor. The greatest need in the world today is not more science, not more social engineering, not more teaching, not more knowledge, not more power, not even more preaching—the greatest need we have today is for love. And the only way that love can be supplied is by a supernatural act of the Holy Spirit that transforms lives.

“Therefore He is also able to save to the uttermost those who come to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them.” Hebrews 7:25 (NKJV)

Today, we see many people who claim to be believers but go around with their heads bowed low in despair, discouragement and disappointment, especially when they consider their current realities. They parade themselves as believers, yet their utterances do not in any way suggest that they are. Their words do not align with what is expected of a believer. They complain about the challenges they face in our society and the consequent effects on their families, finances, health, academics, and all that as if God is in trouble. Are you in that category? The time to change your confession is now. Beloved, your God is still sitting. He is in control! He has everything in place for your victory, but you must align with Him with a knowing that your salvation is total. Jesus did not pay the price for you to go to heaven but live in sickness, disease etc here. No! The price for your salvation was fully paid.

John 19:30 "When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost."

When Jesus cried, "It is finished," He was not referring to the whole plan of salvation as being completed. He still had to descend into the lower parts of the earth and lead the captives out (Eph. 4:8-9), as well as come back from the dead and ascend to the Father to make intercession for us (Heb. 7:25).

Paul made it very clear in 1 Corinthians 15:14 and 17, that if Jesus did not rise from the dead, then our faith is vain and we are yet in our sins.

Topic: What Is Idolatry? [Monday December 11, 2017]

Whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father . . . — Matthew 10:33

What is idolatry? Idolatry is anything that comes between us and God. Joshua told his people that their nation would be destroyed if they persisted in idolatry, and their souls would suffer eternal death. He said, “You must make your decision today. You must decide whether you want to serve the idols of this life, or the living God.” “Choose you this day,” said Joshua, “as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” What about you? Are you taking your stand with Joshua? No matter what the cost? I am asking you to choose this day whom you will serve. Our families cannot choose Christ for us. Our friends cannot do it. God is a great God, but even God can’t make the decision for us. He can help, but only we can decide. We have to make our own choice.

As a child of God that wants to live in continuous victory. To achieve this, you must avoid listening to any other voice apart from the voice of the Lord. Many today, are listening to the second voice – because it is so loud and compelling. The first key to controlling the second voice is to identify it, the next thing you do is to cast it down. Don’t give it any room to grow in your life especially at a time like this. Counter it with the word of God. Learn from Eve, Eve could have conquered the devil if, when he started the conversation, she had stopped him with the word of God. But rather than tell him “Thus saith the Lord” she went into a conversation and the rest is history.

It is commonly observed that when two distant mountains are viewed, they immediately seem too close as if to touch each other, but as one gets closer to them, the fact that they are far apart and visibly separated by a huge valley becomes clearer. Scripture: I long to see you so that I may impart to you some spiritual gift to make you strong. Romans 1:11

Thought For The Day: The intensity of your spirituality guarantees the security of your destiny

Sometime ago, I heard a testimony of a member of our church who embarked on a trip to somewhere. She boarded a bus with other passengers and beckoned on the passengers to join her in prayer for a safe trip. Surprisingly, they all refused, except a lady. So, they both prayed as the journey continued.

The Lord makes poor and makes rich; He brings low and He lifts up. — 1 Samuel 2:7

Living above society’s moral decline involves the choices we make regarding our conversations, the way we dress, what we read, and the TV shows and movies we watch. It also has to do with the level of integrity with which we live our personal lives, interact with other people and conduct ourselves in our businesses or professions.

Andrew Wommack’s Daily 10 December 2017 Devotional: Honor Your Parents

Topic: Honor Your Parents [Sunday December 10, 2017]

John 19:26 "When Jesus therefore saw his mother, and the disciple standing by, whom he loved, he saith unto his mother, Woman, behold thy son!"

Children are to honor their parents, even after they become adults. However, the command to obey is temporary (Gal. 4:1-2). Honor naturally leads to obedience if nothing is asked contrary to God's laws, but honor and obedience are not synonymous. The scriptures teach that when a child marries he is to leave his father and mother and cleave unto his mate (Gen. 2:24). Parental dominance that extends into marriage is the source of many divorces and much marital strife. Yet, a child is to honor his parents for all their life.

Topic: Steadfast Love [Sunday December 10, 2017]

Your steadfast love, O Lord, is as great as all the heavens . . . — Psalm 36:5 (TLB)

Young people talk a lot about love. Most of their songs are about love. . . . “The supreme happiness of life,” Victor Hugo said long ago, “is the conviction that we are loved.” “Love is the first requirement for mental health,” declared Sigmund Freud. The Bible teaches that “God is love” and that God loves you. To realize that is of paramount importance. Nothing else matters so much. And loving you, God has a wonderful plan for your life. Who else could plan and guide your life so well?

Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. - Matthew 6:33

Whenever Ken and I talk about living by faith, I know there are some people who think, Oh, that's easy for you. You're preachers. You have it made! And, in some ways, we do. We have it made because our calling demands that we give God our attention, and giving God your attention always brings success.

Basic Scripture: Psalm 119:57-67

Years ago, a company in the USA started delivering the Word of God as a reminder for daily prayers. Alan Westenberg  said, “It began with a promise to pray for each other at 3 o’clock every day. I kept forgetting to do it, so being a computer person, I programmed a machine to send a reminder Psalm to my wife and myself every day. Soon, friends and family started asking if they could join and today, It has grown and reaching out to millions all over the world.”

What was a disadvantage led to an advantage. Also, today, you can get various versions of the Bible in your phone. So, dear child of God, there is no excuse whatsoever anymore, why your knowledge based on the Word of God should not grow. David said, “…give me understanding that I may learn thy commandments. In this age of internet, video, audio, books are now digital Bible technology, lack of knowledge or busy schedule excuses should become history I your life. Hear what former, most powerful men in the world (American president) speak about the Bible you carry: “Within the covers of the Bible are the answers for all the problems men face”

Text: Deuteronomy 18:8-13

Key Verse: "When thou art come into the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee, thou shalt not learn to do after the abominations of those nations" (Deuteronomy 18:9).

There was a story of a successful man who always moved about with a particular box anywhere he went. People wondered endlessly about the contents of the box because he hardly ever opened it in the public glare. But there came a day when he had to unleash the mystery of the box. The only thing in the box was an old picture of his when he was ragged and wretched. Any time the feeling of pride overtook him, he went into a closet to look at the old picture as a constant reminder of his humble beginning.

Thought For The Day: If you are on cause of God, no curse from the enemy can prevail against your life.

From our anchor scripture above, it is established that God is committed to fighting for His children. As long as you are on cause of God, no curse from the enemy can prevail against your life.
