Winning Wisdom: Pleasing Through Christ

Topic: Pleasing Through Christ [Saturday, 10th Dec. 2016]

Make you perfect in every good work to do his will, working in you that which is wellpleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ; to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen. Hebrews 13:21

On our own, we cannot please God. There is nothing you will ever do to please God as long as you rely on your own ability. Your works, no matter how good they are will never be a pleasant sacrifice to Him. God is not pleased with us because of us, but He is pleased with us because of Jesus. We can't, on our own, access the throne of God. Everyone who doesn't come under the blood will never get access to God. Jesus is our only way to the Father and He's our only hope in the Father - through Him we will be acceptable to God (John 14:6).

This is so because, God does not intend for us to struggle to please Him. He knows that no matter how hard we try, we can never measure up to His standard. That is why He made us well pleasing through Christ. Christ is the One working in us to be well pleasing to God. It is His job to do that (Hebrews 13:21). All you need to do is allow Him do it. Just offer your body as a living sacrifice to Him (Romans 12:1) and He will do the rest.

Apostle Paul told the Philippian church to work out their salvation with Godly fear, and then went forward to show them how. "For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of His good pleasure" (Philippians 2:13). You cannot work out your salvation on your own. It is God, through the Holy Spirit, that works in you to have the will and to do what pleases God. If it is not through Him, you can't please God. So stop relying on yourself. Rely on God's Spirit. It is only through Him that what ever you do will please God.

Keep winning daily.

Prayer:

Dear Lord, thank You for Your blood that has given me access to You. And thank You for Your Spirit that works in me both to will and to do of your good pleasure. I rely on your Spirit at all times to be well pleasing in Your sight, in Jesus' Name. Amen.
