Open thou mine eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of thy law. Psalm 119:18. Read: Eph 1:17-23
Light is the opposite of darkness. When light comes darkness disappeared because they have nothing in common. Christianity is all about revelational knowledge, which also mean personal encounter with your Maker. When your eyes is open to a particular truth, you get strengthened and walk tall everywhere you go. David knew that when he prayed, Open thou mine eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of thy law and Turn away mine eyes from beholding vanity; and quicken thou me in thy way. Ps 119:18,37. When Gehazi saw the chariots of fire round about them, he was afraid, but Elisha was not afraid because through His enlightened eyes, he has seen the heavenly chariots. He prayed God to open his eyes and God opened it and he saw. 2 kgs 6:14-17
This is one of the prayers the Church of Jesus needs to be praying to avoid coercing men to work for God. When their eyes of understanding are enlighten, they come willingly without coercion, they do God’s work with joy not by compulsion. This is probably what Paul experienced (unwilling workers) before he prayed that the eyes of their understanding should be enlightened so that they will recognized the benefits of being called by God to work for Him. You are guilty as charged. I am guilty as charged too. Therefore, we must pray:
