Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will. Romans 12:2 (NIV)
Some Christian folks are always confused about what the will of God for them really is. They feel that God's will have some degree to it. You will hear them say, "that is not the perfect will of God for me." Or maybe they missed out on some good stuffs and get, maybe, not what they really want, they will be like, "I guess this is the acceptable will of God", "I have missed the perfect will of God, but I know God is going to accept my choice as His acceptable will." The question is 'does God really have a perfect will, an acceptable will or even a good will in their varying degrees?' Well, that's not what scriptures tell us.
From the verse they got this skewed doctrine - Romans 12:2, scriptures say: "do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will." We understand that God's will is altogether perfect, pleasing (acceptable - KJV) and good. That is, it is perfect for us, pleasing to Him and for our good and the good of God's kingdom. For example, it's God's perfect will that we prosper, our prosperity gives Him pleasure and it is good for our lives and for the expansion of God's kingdom here on earth.
God's will is whole - perfect, pleasing and good. Then you might want to ask: how do I know God's will in a particular issue? God's Word is His will. In His Word, He has given us His will - mind, thought, counsel, instruction, path, plan, wisdom and lots more. Another means of knowing God's will is through God's Spirit (1 Corinthians 2:2-10). He reveals the will of God to us and whatever He reveals is in sync with God's Word. God's will for you is perfect, it is pleasing and it is good. Renew your mind with the Word, then you will test and approve that indeed God's will is perfect, pleasing and good.
Keep winning daily.
Study God's Word intently and immerse yourself in fellowship with the Holy Spirit, then you will know what is God's will for your life.
