But ye are come unto mount Sion, and unto the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of angels. Hebrews 12:22
Understanding where we are is very important for us to live out our full potentials in God. As we go to Christian gatherings, we have been inundated with the need to strive to enter into heaven - the beautiful place that God has prepared for us; but some questions readily come to mind. How does one enter where he is already staying? How does one become a citizen of a country he is already a national? Is heaven actually the goal that God has set for us? Is heaven the "mark" Apostle Paul talked about in Philippians 3:14?
With the bandwagon of Christians striving to make heaven, we have seen many live their lives without fully maximizing their potentials in Christ. Scriptures say we were "raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus (Ephesians 2:6). We are seated with Christ in heavenly places. Philippians 3:20 (NIV) makes it clear that our citizenship is in heaven. And this was made possible through the profession of our faith in Jesus.
We have come - not we will come - "unto Mount Zion, and unto the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of angels, to the general assembly and church of the firstborn, which are written in heaven, and to God the Judge of all, and to the spirits of just men made perfect" (Hebrews 12:22-23). We are already citizens of heaven. We are only waiting for our bodies to be changed by the second coming of Jesus (Philippians 3:21). And while waiting for that, we are busy making more people citizens of heaven. Glory to God!
Keep winning daily.
Dear Jesus, thank You for making me a citizen of heaven. Thank you for bringing me into Your kingdom and granting me the full right of a citizen of Your Kingdom. Use me to make more people citizens of heaven, in Jesus' Name. Amen.
