Topic: My Spirit Upon All Flesh 2 [Monday, 7th Nov. 2016.]

And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions. – Joel 2:28

God described Himself to Moses as the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob for a specific reason, and it was simply because He had relationships with them individually. Today, we hear people – Christians for that matter – still chanting the “God of my pastor” when praying to God. It’s baffling because these same Christians should be calling God by their names instead. Like we saw yesterday, intermediaries have been taken away between us and God. Even Jesus will not act as an intermediary  for us (John 16:24-26). God wants to relate with us as our God, individually. He wants you to address Him as your personal God. This was why He sent the Holy Spirit to us. Scriptures say: “and because we are his sons, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, so now we can rightly speak of God as our dear Father” (Galatians 4:6 TLB).

The first thing that occurs when the Holy Spirit comes upon a man is that the man starts speaking in tongues (Acts 2:1-4). This is not just a sign, but it is the Holy Spirit leading the man into communion with the Father. Before we can prophesy, dream and see visions, which are actually ways God communicates with us, He must leads us first into communion – relationship – with Him. There can be no prophecy, dream and vision without fellowship or relationship with God. That is what the Holy Spirit is doing; leading sons, daughters, fathers, mothers, old men and women into relationship with the Father.

As we establish our relationship with God, we can conveniently call God by our names. Just as God have a relationship with your pastor and does great things through Him, so He also wants to do the same with you. This is why you need the baptism of the Holy Spirit. Today, desire Him and receive Him into your life by faith. Ask Him to reveal the Father to you. And as you get more intimate with Him be ready to prophesy, dream and see visions. Hallelujah!

Prayer:
Dear Lord Jesus, pour out Your Spirit on all flesh in the church. Through Your Spirit, establish relationships with the members of Your church. Let prophecies, dreams and visions be aplenty in the church, as we get more intimate with You, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
