Topic: I Obey God Promptly [November 23, 2016]

But if one loves God truly [with affectionate reverence, prompt obedience, and grateful recognition of His blessing], he is known by God [recognized as worthy of His intimacy and love, and he is owned by Him]. – 1 Corinthians 8:3

The more we love God, and the more we receive His love, then the more we are able to obey Him promptly and reverently. We should realize that all of God’s commands are things that will benefit our lives. When God tells us not to do something, He is never trying to take something away from us. Instead, He is protecting us from something harmful. Loving God means that we trust Him, and when we do trust Him, we are able to trust His direction in our lives. If you are having difficulty doing something that you know God wants you to do, or not doing something you know He doesn’t want you to do, remember that He loves you and is trying to help you—trust Him and obey.

Power Thought: I love and trust God, and I obey Him promptly.
