Topic: Earthly Useful and Heavenly Useless. Pt Three [22/11/2016]
But when the young man heard that saying, he went away sorrowful: for he had great possessions. Matthew 19:22. Read: Matt 19:16-24
You cannot be earthly minded and be heavenly useful, you cannot pursue the things of this passing world all your life and think of being useful to heaven. Lot's wife lost her life because of her affection for the things of this world. Gen 19:26. And the Bible says, we must set our affection on the things above, not on things on the earth. Col 3:2. Those that mind the things of the earth end up on earth and those that mind the things of heaven end up also in heaven. The blessings of the Lord are not meant to trap you on earth, but to propel you to His Kingdom.
The true story above is about a rich young man who desired heaven and was sincerely and desperately searching for the way, he met with the way Himself - Jesus and he asked, Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life? Which Jesus told him and he said, I have done all this things. Jesus knew that his only problem was that, he had made his numerous possessions his God. And Jesus said to him, go sell all your possessions and store treasure in heaven: and come follow me. As a result of Jesus’s word, he left Jesus sorrowful. His wealth became a hindrance to entering God's Kingdom. He was useful on earth but useless to heaven.
* Father, whatever blessing that would deny me from entering your Kingdom, I don't deserve it, take it away from me in Jesus Name.
