Topic: Three Ways Believers Respond to God's Word. Pt Two [30/10/2016]
And that servant, which knew his lord's will, and prepared not himself, neither did according to his will, shall be beaten with many stripes. Luke 12:47. Read: James 1:22-25
The series continue this wonderful morning. I believe you were blessed with yesterday series. Today, quickly, let's look at the second category of believers and how they respond to God's Word.
(2) Those Who Know God's Word and Don't Do It. This category of believers know God's Word, they've heard it and read it times and again. Doing what they know is their challenge. This could be as a result of distraction, pride, covetousness, comparison, stubbornness or disobedience. Such believers break God's law and expect or claim His blessings which is not possible. God can't ask you to do certain things, you refuse and expect Him to bless you, no, not at all. The hearers of God's Word only are not blessed, only the doers are entitled to His blessings.
Jesus also said in the above scripture that, such believers cannot go without punishment too. For instance, if when God asked Peter to throw His net at the righthand side of the river, he disobeyed, he wouldn't have had a great catch. He heard Jesus's command and obeyed. Hearers only are losers. Put to practice what you know about God's Word today.
* Hearers of God's Word only get little or nothing done both in God's kingdom and in their personal life. They become liabilities instead of an asset.
