Topic: The True And Only Satisfier [09/10/2016]
He that loveth silver shall not be satisfied with silver; nor he that loveth abundance with increase: this is also vanity. Ecclesiastes 5:10. Read: Ps 63:1-5
When a man is hungry, he eats to satisfy his hunger, when he is thirsty, he drinks to quench his thirst. When you remove a fish from the river, within some seconds, it will give up the ghost because it has been detached from its source of life. Then, how can a man's soul survive in this world without his source - God. God created human soul for Himself and only God can truly satisfy the longing of it. The soul of a man long for satisfaction, but many feed their souls with junks (things of the world) instead of spiritual food that brings the soul closer to the owner - God, therefore commit sin and they die. The soul that sinneth, it shall die. Ezek 18:4. When Solomon backslided , he tried to satisfy his soul with women but couldn't. At the end, he said in Eccl 12:8, Vanity of vanities, saith the preacher; all is vanity.
One Bible character that actually knew the true and only satisfier of the soul was David. He discovered this truth and was ready to seek the Lord with all his totality. His soul was always thirsty after God for satisfaction and Jesus said in Matt 5:6, Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled. He said in Ps 63:5 My soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness; and as a result, he became a man after God's heart.
* If you draw close to Him, He will draw close to you. If you thirst after Him, He will satisfy and quench your thirst.
