A Promise For You From Bible Promises:

 Topic: Compassionate Leaders [04/10/2016]

Then Jesus called his disciples unto him, and said, I have compassion on the multitude, because they continue with me now three days, and have nothing to eat: and I will not send them away fasting, lest they faint in the way. Matthew 15:32. Read: Matt 15:32-39

To be compassionate according to Merriam-Webster dictionary is to have feeling or showing concern for someone who is sick, hurt or poor. To be compassionate is to be selfless; therefore, a compassionate leader is said to be a selfless leader, a leader who cares about his followers. A leader who puts the course of his followers first, a leader that condescends to the level of his followers to identify with them with what they’re feeling and going through and profer solutions to them. A compassionate leader graduates from sympathy to empathy for his followers, he does not just pity them without providing them the needed solution to alleviate their pains but empathise with them and ease their pains. We’ve discovered over time the trend in our leadership is that it lacks compassion and empathy for her followers. We have only voted in  leaders that care about themselves and families – even unborn children. Leaders that forget those that voted them into power.

Jesus didn’t just preach to the people, in fact, before He preached to them, He first fed them. He is a compassionate leader. Everyone He ministered to, He first empathized with them, He put Himself in their shoes to feel what they’re feeling. Christian leaders must take after their perfect example – Jesus Christ. We must not only sympathise with men but empathise with them.
