Aisha Buhari, wife of the president, has dedicated her Prix de la Fondation award to the men and women who lost lives on the battlefield.
The Prix de la Fondation, which is presented to prominent personalities, was awarded to Buhari on Wednesday at the African Women’s Forum Crans Montana.
The Nigerian first lady spoke on the theme “Women’s role in global security” at the forum which is holding in Belgium.
She was presented the award by Didier Reynders, Belgian deputy prime minister & minister of foreign & European affairs.
“I whole-heartedly dedicate the award to the Nigerian military men and women who have lost their lives and those at the war front battling to restore peace in the North East,” she said.
The first lady had been in a storm recently, criticising her husband for not appointing those who campaigned for him in the 2015 election.
She also threatened not to campaign for him again in 2019 if things did not change.
Buhari responded by saying she belonged in “the other room” and should not meddle in politics.
