Text: 1 John 2:14
Make no mistake, the devil is a strong “guy”. It takes a strong person to want to challenge God. Even though he has and will always come up short, he still retains a measure of that strength. Scriptures make us understand that we have overcome the devil because we have put our faith in Jesus Christ. That is, our faith in Jesus guarantees us victory over the devil. 1 John 5:4 says: “for whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.”
John writes in 1 John 2:13 – “…I write unto you, young men, because ye have overcome the wicked one…” He said the young men have overcome the devil. But what was the strategy the young men employed to overcome the devil? He answers that in verse 14 of the same 1 John 2 – “…I have written unto you, young men, because ye are strong, and the word of God abideth in you, and ye have overcome the wicked one.” They overcome because they are strong and the word of God abides in them. That’s awesome.
The Word of God is the recipe for strength and scriptures say we should be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might (Ephesians 6:10). God’s Word is the power of His might, and when we have it abiding in us, we have His power which provides the abundance of His strength and guarantees our victory, because His Words reside in us. We are not fazed by anything the devil throws at us, because we are strong through God’s Word. Get God’s Word abiding in you. It is your strength recipe.

I am strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. I have God’s Word residing in me. It guarantees me success every day. My victory is sure as I live by the efficacy of God’s Word always, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
