Topic: Keys to a Happy Home! (2)

Dear Reader,

I welcome you to another glorious week in Jesus’ name.  Last week, I brought you the introductory part of this teaching.  I said that the excellent taste of every soup is determined by how it is prepared and the same is true of a happy home.

This week, I shall be teaching on The Secret of a Happy Home.  The secret of a happy home might be given in one word – Christ.  Christ is the secret of every happy home.

First, what does it mean to be happy?  Happiness is a state of delight, showing satisfaction or joy.  When a home is happy, in most cases, the outlook every member of the family is characterised by laughter.  Joy naturally surges out from within them.

God’s Word says: The spirit of a man will sustain his infirmity; but a wounded spirit who can bear? (Proverbs 18:14).  That is, a sorrowful heart is dangerous.  Nothing good comes the way of the dejected.

When there is no happiness in a home, the family members are prone to all sorts of sicknesses and diseases.  Since wisdom is profitable to direct, thus, I and my family members will rather choose to stay happy and be drug-free.

The Psalmist says: …Blessed is every one that feareth the Lord; that walketh in his ways. For thou shalt eat the labour of thine hands: happy shalt thou be, and it shall be well with thee (Psalms 128:1-2).  Also, Proverbs 28:14 says: Happy is the man that feareth always: but he that hardeneth his heart shall fall into mischief.

‘Fear’ in the above Scriptures does not represent being afraid; rather, it connotes respect and reverence for God and His Word.  That is, you let whatever He says become your guiding principle for life.

As a man and the head in the home, if you will walk in the understanding that you have a Head (God), Who watches over you and your deeds, you will hold Him in reverence and respect. You will obey whatever He tells you to do without questions or grumbling.

As a wife, if you know that ultimately, God is your head, rather than seeing yourself as being subjected to your husband only, you’ll see yourself as obeying the commandments of God through your husband, thereby reverencing God and His Word.

This is the fear of the Lord.  As you do these, your children will watch and learn from you.  Secretly, they are proud to have God-fearing parents and they in turn, learn to obey God and keep His Word.

Christ is the secret of a happy home. Therefore, before you can experience a happy home, you have to accept Christ as your Lord and personal Saviour.  If you are ready to accept Him, please say this prayer: “Dear Lord Jesus Christ, I come to You today.  I am a sinner.  Forgive me of my sins and cleanse me with Your Blood.  Deliver me from sin and satan to serve the living God.  I accept You as my Lord and Saviour.  Make me a child of God today.  Thank You for accepting me into Your Kingdom.”
