Topic: Love The Word [9/7/2016]
Text: Psalms 119:165
One of the most important ways of expressing worship to God is the affection we have for His Word. God and is Word are one and the same. In the hierarchy of God’s honour list, His Word stands proudly as the numero onu. And loving God’s Word shows how much reverence we have for God. During the reading of the Law and prophets in the old testament, the children of Israel were always in a keen reverential mood in honour of the Word of God.
King David, in expressing how much he loves God’s Word and how important God’s Word is to him, said: “…I love thy commandments above gold; yea, above fine gold. Therefore I esteem all thy precepts concerning all things to be right; and I hate every false way. Thy testimonies are wonderful: therefore doth my soul keep them” (Psalm 119:127-129). Just like King David, we need to love the Word of God. We need to cherish it. It is indeed more precious than Gold.
David was able to do God’s Word because of the love he had for the Word. He said: “thy testimonies are wonderful: therefore doth my soul keep them” (Psalm 119:129). Also, for us to do God’s Word, we must love the Word. When the love of God’s Word saturates our hearts, it will be easy to do them and prosper in them. Are you struggling to live in the reality of God’s Word, then you need to start loving the Word. That’s all need to do, because love for God’s Word will propel you to live in the light of God’s Word. Love God’s Word.

My affection is on God’s Word. It is my meditation day and night. It saturates my heart and catches my fancy. The beauty of the Word of God captivates me and I do and live by every Word that is of God, in Jesus name. Amen.
