Topic: Live For Others [30/7/2016]

Text: Psalm 41:1

One of the hallmarks of Jesus’ life here on earth was that He lived it not for himself, but for others. Everywhere He went He was either teaching, saving, providing, healing and restoring life. And He did these not for Himself but for people in His sphere of interaction. He proclaimed His people-centred ministry in Luke 4:18 which says: “the Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised.”

He never thought about Himself in a selfish way. He was always putting others above Himself. His entire life was to the service to humanity and even in death, He was still serving humanity. This is the kind of life that we are to live. It is far blessed to live for others than to live for yourself. The story of the rich fool in Luke 12:16-21, shows us that God abhor selfishness. We must not be self centred. We must consider the welfare of others that are needy and if it is in our means to help, help we must.

Scriptures say in Psalms 41:1, “blessed is he that considereth the poor.” Consider the poor. Poor in this context is anyone that have need of any form of  assistance, not only financially but also in other aspects of life. Someone can be poor in idea, emotionally down, psychologically off colour and, spiritually, and otherwise. Seek them out and help them. Live your life for others. That is where true fulfilment in life lies.

Keep winning daily.
