Topic – Restitution: A Sign Of Genuine Repentance

And Zacchaeus stood, and said unto the Lord; Behold, Lord, the half of my goods I give to the poor; and if I have taken any thing from any man by false accusation, I restore him fourfold. Luke 19:8. Read: Luke 19:1-10

Have you ever see an unbeliever falls under the power of God and begin to weep uncontrollably, confessing his/her sins without been asked? This happen because the Holy Spirit conviction. This kind of uncontrollable tears was what I experienced when I gave my life to Christ Jesus. I was pricked to my heart like on the Pentecost day and I wept uncontrollably, my Pastor had to consoled me. There was a transformation that took place inside of me. Sincere tears could be a sign of genuine Salvation. Another sign you easily see when one is saved is joy. There’s a joy that follows Salvation. Immediately one confess Jesus as Lord and Saviour the joy of the Holy Ghost comes to abide with that fellow which leads to peace of mind. Oh what an experience sinners are missing.

Another sign of genuine Salvation is restitution. Restitution means, making right the wrongs. Restoring back to the owner what was forcefully taken. Restitution is both recognised in the old and new testament of the Bible. Having Jesus under his roof being a sinner was a great privilege and honour to Zacchaeus, and as a result, he exclaimed to Jesus, And Zacchaeus stood, and said unto the Lord; Behold, Lord, the half of my goods I give to the poor; and if I have taken any thing from any man by false accusation, I restore him fourfold. And Jesus said unto him, This day is salvation come to this house, forsomuch as he also is a son of Abraham. Whatever you are holding unto now which is not yours, kindly restitute it back to the rightful owner and experience God’s peace
