Topic: It’s a Love Relationship [18/5/2016]
Text: Matthew 22:37-39
The relationship God has established with us is not only a father-son relationship but also a lovers’ relationship. John 3:16 made us understand that God loves us so much, and He sent Jesus to die for us as an expression of His love for us. He not only expressed His love for us, He also poured His love into our heart so that we can respond to Him in love (Romans 5:5).
So Jesus said in Matthew 22:27, “thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.” Jesus was not just saying that as a commandment, but He was showing us our innate ability and what He has come to establish between us and God.
God wants to be our object of love. Just as He has poured His affection on us, He wants us to pour our affection on Him. Why? Because it is from the fountain of love that we are able to walk in the light of God’s Word and live in obedience of His Words. Let your heart, through the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of love that dwells in it, direct it to a loving relationship with God.

Dear Lord, thank You for expressing Your love to me, calling me into a loving relationship with You. By the Spirit of love You have given me, I express love unfeigned to You now and forever, in Jesus name. Amen.
